Meetup on Oracle Blockchain Technologies and Database Backup Strategies

The School of Computer Science will be hosting an OUG Meetup on Wednesday 19th June between 18:00 and 22:30, in the main Kevin Street building, room KE 1-014.

Sign-up for this this Meetup here. This is to allow us to know how many people will be attending. This is a free event and open to all. There will be a number of IT companies attending the Meetup. It could be a good opportunity to discuss job vacancies, placements and other oppurtunities.

19:15-20:00 : Managing Backups on Oracle Exadata - Varvara Murphy, Version1
This presentation will examine the various challenges faced with setting up and managing backups on Exadata. Using real world examples I will show how what works and what doesn't work. Topics covered include RMAN backups touching on dNFS, compression, infinband, OVM, ZFS appliance and repository management, along with suggestions for future protocol integration.
